It was another bright and sunny morning that Madeline woke up to. This one had a completely different atmosphere than the last time though. The last time it was going to be a great day because it was the perfect day to sneak around. This was going to be a great day because it was the perfect weather to have her voice be heard. Despite her tiny size and the meekness of her voice, Mady carried a presence that make even her tiny words able to make the earth quake. The determination in her eyes was full blaze today. She was fully ready before her morning maid had even entered the room. The woman, who had been dealing with these moments since Mady started having them only watched patiently, chuckling and humming an "Oh dear."
But the nanny was the only person who could be amused at this. She was the only person, after all, who knew how to handle her. The girl had a tiny physique that looked like it was made of glass, but on days like this she moved it with the force of a freight train. Down the long halls and up the stairs she went until she was going down the hall to the biggest chamber in the castle. The guards standing outside them lost all color in their faces when they saw her. They looked at her the same way as they would if a dragon was storming down the hall at them.
When she finally reached them, Mady took the edges of her dress between her tiny fingers, crossed her legs, and gave a polite and humorously exaggerated courtsey. "Good morning, Mr.Guards." The girl said in a sweet, innocent voice. The guards bowed back and one spoke, a slight nervousness in his voice. "Ah...good morning, princess."
"I would like to have a word with my father, please."Of course she would. They knew how it was by now, and the energy she had going down the hall meant she probably wouldn't leave until the king was well and ready to leave the chambers himself if she was denied. It didn't stop them from trying, though. "Er...don't you think it is a bit early though,My Lady?He hasn't woken up yet..."
The look Mady gave them was of slight confusion, but her smile and sweet voice remained. "But it is morning, right? So he should be up. Wake him up then.". The two guards looked at each other. She had a point. But would it really be okay? They didn't want to disturb the king, yet they didn't want to make Mady upset. She has yet to cry over these kinds of things, but she was still a little girl. And to guards who have never had kids of their own that they care for, little girls cry...a lot.
"If you are scared to do it, you could just let me in and I will do it."Oh, no. Non.No.No.Never. "Ah-no. That won't be necessary,My Lady. Please wait a moment."
With that, one of the guards quickly and quietly entered the chamber, leaving the other guard to stand with Madeline nervously. Madeline just waited and hummed patiently, rocking back and forth on her heels and toes.
