It was time to restock and without merchants to come to and fro the island, that left only one way to regain used up materials. Look for more. The clinic that was Rune's home had been closed off and locked up with a big wooden sign out front with the word 'Away' painted on. Rune and her adopter had designated themselves to their own jobs, Doc was to head to the florist's as well as some other stores for supplies while Rune searched for wild herbs and other things such as bee hives and the like. It seemed that everything had some sort of medicinal value or use the duo could use for their practice. Though Rune would admit, she often came back with more than what was needed or even listed.
Worn rawhide boots on with a pair of matching gloves, Rune traversed the forest that took up on little square of the island. Her long black hair tied into a ponytail and a large shoulder pack hung diagonally across her back. Inside were empty jars and paper packets along with a small flask of water. There was no food provisions as the girl could find her own among the wild plants she sought. Already she had found some lovely fungus specimens, mushrooms; that filled up a few of the jars she carried with her. So far most were edible such as the Oyster mushroom and Chanterelles mushrooms but among them were some of the more poisonous variety like the vibrant Jack-o'-lanterns (though those were for her own curiosity). She had been there for more than a few hours, ranging from just after breakfast time till the later hours of the day. The sun was still out, hanging a good three hands from the noon day. By then most of Rune's jars had been filled with wild grasses and flowers. She did manage to find other things such as some tidbits of honeycomb along with its sweet counterpart, honey; with few stings thanks to some sleeping smoke she whipped up.
The apprentice had nearly gone to the beach in search of seaweed and sea urchins but thought against it in favor of some wild berries. Two different types of berries sat next to each other, both same in color but different in shape. Now if Rune were an ignorant, she might have just plucked them off and ate them which would have been a deadly mistake. For one type of berry was extremely poisonous. Oh no, she made sure to read up so that mistake wouldn't happen; her covered hands filled another jar with the non-poisonous round berries. Just as she managed to fill the jar half way and close it, a rabbit ran right through the bush and past her. Dull eyes looked after the frantic little creature, turning in the direction it came to see three pairs of yellow eyes.
...
"Oh dear..." Rune stated dully, "I don't suppose you're all like dogs?" One of the trio let out a hungry growl. "Apparently not." Slowly, Rune got to her feet, carefully placing the jar within her bag. The two side wolves made cautious steps toward her as she took a few back. Reaching into her bag, Rune pulled out a folded piece of paper. It was tied by a simple string, one that Rune quickly pulled free when one of the beasts charged her; tossing it into the canine's face before fleeing. A poisonous powder, one that forced uncontrollable tears and sniffling but otherwise harmless. Still it hit the hound in the face, allowing her to get away with only two on her tail and the third whining its head off.
Run, run, run as fast as you can! There's two really big dogs who want a piece of you woman! She flew off little ledges, trying to pick the more complicated ways out rather than give the wolves a free ride. She could hear one break off from its partner as they scrambled past a fallen tree. "Great. They're going to pincer me." It was a rather calm statement despite the girl needing to run for her life. At least the edge was just in sight, though it was a straight run into a field when she got there.
