It wasn't very often that Chandra had days where he could relax. He liked to stay light on his feet and ready to be put to work, to practice, and most of all, to play around. Unfortunately, a little roughing around with a not-so little dragon had caused him an injury; a sprained ankle. Nothing to fret over really. But it kept him grounded. Literally. He couldn't perform with a sprained ankle, and his practices were cancelled because of it. What exactly was he supposed to do now? At first, Chandra decided to consider it a vacation. It was his time to relax; go help around the his sister's house and take a nap in the sun. But you can only sleep so long and he quickly found that he wasn't so good at household chores anymore. His sister kicked him out, the cruel thing. So Chandra lingered around town, helping out with people's everyday errands when they let him. Most would see the bandage around his foot and scold him for his restlessness, but there were so many hours in a day and so little things to do on land. Defeated, Chandra headed back to the quarters. Maybe he will just sulk all day until he fell asleep. But his ankle wouldn't be any better when he woke up, would it? It would be a while before he was allowed to fly again. Surya's childish "I'm soooo sorry! quickly became a mocking "You are so lame." and "I have more of a life on land than you do." as time progressed. And what Chandra found very odd was that the dragon was right. He really didn't have a social life. He didn't for the most badass reasons, but it still was a void in his life experiences where anyone who wasn't some sort of introvert or pariah had filled. That just wouldn't do. He needed to fix this before it came to someone other than an oversized lizard's mind. And so he stalked his first prey. Valarie Scovill. Age: 27. Occupation: Flight Instructor. Status: Indifferent. Conditions: Undetected. She didn't seem too busy right? Nobody was busy on this island. So Chandra strided forward to the unknowing girl, yelling out a loud "Yo Val!" into the hall. He didn't want to give her a heart attack, after all. ~~~ ~"Talk to me"~

| let's fly forever mayday mayday this ship is slowly sinking they think I'm crazy but they don't know the feeling they're all around me Take me high and I'll sing Oh you make everything okay We are one in the same Oh you take all of the pain away Save me if I become My demons I cannot stop this sickness taking over It takes control and drags me into nowhere I need your help, I can't fight this forever I know you're watching, I can feel you out there Don't let me go I need a savior to heal my pain When I become my worst enemy The --- Flight practice, as always, put Valarie into a brilliant mood. It was the one thing she was good at, and it pleased her that she could help someone out, even in a small way. The class had come a long way since climbing up on their dragons for the very first time, and she was proud of them all. Some took to it with an affinity, and others took a little bit of extra TLC, but they all came through in their own time.
It always tired out poor Choin, though. It wasn’t exactly easy work for Valarie, but the great red dragon was the one who did most of the flying and the exercise. . . she always took a long nap after their lessons so that left Valarie with nothing to do for the rest of the afternoon. She was on her way to her own little room, unaware that someone was down the hall, following after her. Albeit with good intentions, but still stalking nonetheless.
Until they shouted at her.
In hindsight they would probably realize what a terrible idea that was.
“Yo Val!”
Soon enough Valarie would realize it was just one of the other trainers, but right at that moment she believed she was under attack. Her hand flew to her chest and she stumbled into the wall, jarring her shoulder. Somehow she managed to turn to look down the hall to see who it was, but some of the damage was done.
However, she managed to come back to herself in time to stop from falling to the floor. Valarie braced herself against the wall and forced herself to stand. “Oh—Chandra. . . you startled me,” she said, her voice sounded far away.

Despite his best efforts not to spook the girl, he only ended up scaring her even more. She coiled together like a freezing prey in the eyes of a predator and decided to crash land into the wall. Ouch. Despite any other person in the whole world being able to earn a burst of laughter from Chandra, he didn't let out a single snicker. Instead, he rushed a little faster over to her side. By the time he got there, she seemed to have recovered, though. "Yeah I can tell...it totally wasn't intentional. Honestly." he rubbed the back of his head, giving Valarie a sheepish smile. "You aren't too busy or tired, are you? Do you think we can hang out if not?". Chandra was already rebounding to his usual confidence and energy. Maybe they could play a game of foot-oh...well they could...or...no, not that either. Wow. Being injured sucks. Well, they didn't have to do anything active to hang out. Talking was just fine. "I just noticed we don't talk much, which is weird because we work together almost every day."~~~ ~"Talk to me"~

Honestly." He looked properly chagrined.
However, Valarie just shook her head. “Oh no, think nothing of it. It’s incredibly easy to startle me. . . it’s just another thing I have to deal with every day! I’m used to it by now, promise,” she assured him with what she hoped was a reassuring smile. It seemed there wasn’t a day that went by that something wasn’t giving her a heart attack.
It seemed to work and he was back to normal. Or what Valarie thought was normal from what she’d seen of him. “You aren't too busy or tired, are you? Do you think we can hang out if not?”
That was an odd request.
“Hang out?” she repeated, tilting her head slightly.
“I just noticed we don't talk much, which is weird because we work together almost every day,” he elaborated. For a second Valarie was just confused, but then she remembered there had been an accident and Chandra was laid up for some time. He was probably bored and lonely.
Valarie smiled and nodded. Why not? She had nothing better to do with Choin napping. No more classes until the next day, no plans to do anything. It would be nice to get to know her fellow teacher, anyway. She was naturally social, she just sometimes didn’t feel like she was good enough to be social. “Yeah, no that sounds fine. What did you have in mind?”

Chandra couldn't imagine what it would be like to be so easily startled. He would think that a person would eventually overcome it; their nerves would steal over and it would get harder to startle them. She must have really been wound up, which meant Valarie probably needed this more than he did. Now he was feeling a bit bad. He wondered if she was like him; not possessing a life outside of work. But it was rare that someone wouldn't be stressed out about it like he was. Was Chandra a horrible person for only doing this out of his amusement? But enough morality for now. She had agreed, which made his smile grow big and even more childlike. "Cool. Do you drink?" Er...that kinda didn't seem fitting for some reason. Even if she did, something about drinking and social bonding didn't add up well. "Nevermind that...you haven't eaten yet, right? We can just talk in the dining hall." Yeah, that was much more fitting. A loud snort echoed in the back of his mind. Surya had jokes, but luckily he was keeping them to himself for now. Chandra quickly snapped back with a 'go to sleep, you giant scaled sloth' before tuning back into what was going on in front of him. ~~~ ~"Talk to me"~

She didn’t drink very often, of course, so she didn’t really mind that he had changed his mind, but if he had wanted to she probably would have. There were plenty of other things to drink at a bar.
But, eating was okay too.
“No, I haven’t eaten yet. That actually sounds like a heavenly idea,” she said, smiling lightly. She hadn’t realized how hungry she was until he had mentioned food, but at the mere thought her stomach was rumbling just a tad bit and she felt the familiar clench in her muscles as they tried to find some food to digest. “I might just start digesting my own stomach if I don’t eat something soon.”
It was a feeling she was too familiar with, but at least now she could go and get food whenever she had wanted. Those first few months she couldn’t believe she was able to eat whenever she wanted, but now it was just another thing she was used to and took for granted.
She turned and let him take stride next to her while they headed toward the hall. “How much longer do you have to live like an invalid?” she asked with a wry smile, motioning lightly toward his bum leg.
